The Gujarat State Chess Association has organized the National Men and Women’s Chess Championship at GSC Bank under the banner of All India Chess Federation.
After two rounds, the female PSPB team and the men’s RSPB-B team were ahead by two points. The PSPB women’s team defeated the Andhra Pradesh-B team and the RSPB-B team defeated LIC in the men’s team. In the women’s category, the Airports Authority of India and the Tamil Nadu-A team finished second and third with two points each. In the men’s category, Kerala and the Indian Airport Authority finished second and third with 2-2 points. Gujarat’s B and E teams scored two points respectively. In the second round, Gujarat-A team player Samarth Shrini Warrier defeated Nitin of RSPB-A team. A total of 60 teams from India are participating in this tournament. There are 40 teams in the men’s category and 20 teams in the female category. Top 10 players (10 men and 10 female) in each category will be given a cash prize of a total of Rs 10 lakh.
