Mumbai – Police arrested four thieves who were robbing cash of Rs 35,000 from a farmer at Chopra bus depot in Jalgaon district. During interrogation of these thieves, it was found that one of the thieves Prahlada Piroji Monte is working as a sub-inspector in Maharashtra Police. The police also suspect that the retirement, which has reached the retirement, is running a stolen racket at the bus depot across the state. Monte confessed to the theft in front of the police.
According to the detailed information, at the Chopra bus depot at around 3 pm on Wednesday, the girl came to know about the village farmer Vasant Koli, who stole cash of Rs 35,000. The police was already stationed here in plain clothes as they had received information from a confidential informer that the Chopra bus depot could be stolen. The police immediately became alert and chased the thieves, as they were running into the car.
After chasing the car for a long time, the police stopped the car on the Chopra-Dharangaon road and took the riders into custody. At present, Prahlad Piraji Mant (57), Srikanth Bhimrao Baghe (27), Ambadas Salgavkar (43) and Rauf Sheikh were found in the car. All of them were brought to the police station and further investigation revealed that Prahlad Mant was a police officer. During interrogation, it was found that the temple was a sub-inspector in Jalan. Apart from this, it was also revealed that 27 crimes were registered against an accused named Ambadas Salgaonkar.
Giving further information, the police said that Montes were going to retire in three months. However, earlier he came to Chopra bus depot to steal and was caught. Police suspect that he is running a stolen racket at bus depots across the state. He did not stay in a hotel or lodge to avoid being caught. Cooking utensils, sheets and pillows were found in his car. The police have registered a case in other sections including theft and started further investigation.
