Bikaner, July 7 (Hindustan Times). Under the International Millet Year 2023, a farmer-scientist seminar was org.zed by National Horse Research Center, Bikaner campus on Friday under the chairmanship of Divisional Head Dr. S.C. Mehta.

The chief guest of the program, Prof. (Dr.) KML Pathak, former Deputy Director General (.mal Science), Indian Council of Agricultural Research, said that progress in horse rearing is possible only through mutual coordination. He praised the coordination between horse breeders, .mal husbandry department and scientists of the Horse Research Center. He assured that he will put all the points of today’s seminar in front of the central government in the interest of horse breeders.

While presiding over the function, Divisional Head, Dr. Mehta said that while buying horses, do not get confused by the words of middlemen and whenever you buy an expensive horse, buy it only after getting parentage testing done from DNA. This will encourage good breed horses and they will get more benefit from horse rearing. He also talked about org.zing horse competitions at the local level and increasing eco-tourism. At the same time, he promised the horse breeders that the way Nukra Ghoda was brought on their demand, in the same way other suggestions will also be implemented.

On this occasion, Dr. Artabandhu Sahu, Director National Camel Research Center, Bikaner said that the Camel Research Center will also provide full support for horse breeding and horse competitions. Joint Director of .mal Husbandry Department, Dr. Virendra Netra emphasized on increasing the amount given by the government for compensation of horses due to glanders disease from 25 thousand for horse rearers. Special guest Zorawar Singh said that keep horses of good breed and pay attention to proper nutrition. A large number of horse breeders participated in the seminar and kept their views. Mainly Rajendra Singh, Mahipal Singh, Mamraj Poonia and Pradeep Singh Chauhan kept their views related to horse rearing. The program was conducted by Dr. Ramesh Dedad, Sr. Scientist did and Dr. M.Kutty, Scientist and Dr.Jitendra Singh, Farm Manager actively contributed for org.zing the program, as well as participation of all officers and employees of the center in successful org.zation of the program.
