Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The proceedings in trial court against Minyraj Modi, the director of a private school in the city, has been stayed in rape case.
His application is pending at principal bench of Madhya Pradesh High Court in Jabalpur for quashing the FIR. Though arguments have been completed, the order has not been passed.
A First Information Report (FIR) was registered at Misrod police station against Modi on April 30 based on the complaint filed by girl’s mother under Section 376 of IPC and under Protection of Children from Sexual Offence Act. The High Court had granted bail to him on July 5, 2024.
Advocate Akash Telang who appeared on behalf of Minyraj Modi said, “As per Supreme Court ruling, after argument, court has time for six months to pronounce decision.
If within six months, the decision is not pronounced, then bench will be changed. In this case, we have applied for quashing FIR and arguments have been completed. Till then, proceeding in trial court (district and sessions court) has been stayed.”
