Global star Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ mother Madhu Chopra recently stated that she regrets sending her to boarding school when she was only seven years old. She said she continues to grapple with the personal decision she made back then.
In a interview on Rodrigo Canelas’ Something Bigger Talk Show podcast, Madhu expressed lingering regret, saying, “I don’t know, was I a mean mother? I still regret it. I still cry over it. It was very hard for me, too.”
Madhu shared how challenging it was for both mother and daughter, especially as Priyanka struggled to adjust. “Every Saturday, I would leave my work and take a train to visit her. That was becoming disruptive for her because she was not able to adjust to her boarding school. Saturday, she would wait for me to arrive, and then on Sunday, I would stay with her. But the teacher eventually told me, ‘Stop coming. You can’t come’.”
Despite her regrets, Madhu also acknowledged a sense of pride in Priyanka’s growth and success. “It was a regretful decision but Priyanka turned out alright. She landed on her feet,” she added.
PeeCee’s mother has been a constant pillar of support throughout her acting journey. She has stood by the actress through every challenge, often accompanying her to film shoots and events.
Their pictures and videos on Instagram are also a proof of the close bond they share.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Priyanka will next be seen in the upcoming comedy film Heads of State, alongside Idris Elba and John Cena. She’s also set to take on the role of a pirate in The Bluff, co-starring Karl Urban. Additionally, the actress will return in the second season of her popular web series, Citadel.
