Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ mother Madhu Chopra recently recalled how she was judged after the actress threw her a grand 60th birthday bash only six days after her father Ashok Chopra’s death. She also revealed that PeeCee got actor John Abraham wrapped up like a birthday present for her mother.
PeeCee’s father Ashok Chopra succumbed to cancer on June 10, 2013. During her chat with Lehreh Retro, Madhu recalled that she turned 60 on June 16, just six days after her husband’s death, but the actress made sure that it was not a sad but a memorable day for her. “She said ‘That’s what dad would have wanted’. Priyanka insisted that we go ahead with the party and asked everyone to stay,” Madhu shared.
Since Madhu was a huge fan of John Abraham, PeeCee pulled off the unthinkable for her mother. “They had requested John to come at midnight, wrapped like a birthday present. Imagine that!” said Madhu, adding that the actress had also arranged for DJ and music.
Madhu recalled how the rest of the family sat there “gloomily” and questioned if she was not grieving her husband. “Meanwhile, I was thinking that my daughter arranged all this, my kids put in so much effort. They’re all suffering and grieving, but this is how she is honouring her dad,” she shared.
While PeeCee was devastated post her father’s death, she had stated in an earlier interview how she learnt to accept the reality and move on, keeping him in her heart. In honour of her father, she also got a tattoo reading ‘Daddy’s little girl’ on her wrist.
