Delhi High Court: No private hospital can now deny palliative treatment to a rape victim, acid attack survivor. Delhi High Court has given this important order after hearing a case.
The court, while hearing a case, noted that despite repeated interventions by the court and the Delhi State Legal Services Authority, the victim had to wait for treatment in a private hospital.

Delhi High Court has ordered that every medical facility in Delhi will have to put up a board reading, Free external and internal treatment for rape victims, gang rape, acid attack victims.
The High Court has ordered hospitals to follow the guidelines, saying that victims of these crimes will have to be examined and diagnosed on an urgent basis and will also have to be treated for diseases like HIV. Victims of rape, acid attacks and sexual harassment should be provided free treatment in all government and private hospitals and nursing homes. They cannot refuse free treatment.
A bench of Justice Pratibha M. Justice Singh and Amit Sharma gave this order in a case where a 16-year-old girl was raped by her own father. Any hospital doctor, employee or management who refuses free treatment will be fined. Free treatment includes any type of testing, diagnosis and long-term treatment.
