Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of various development projects worth more than Rs 3,880 crore in his parliamentary constituency Varanasi. On this occasion, he said that Kashi has become an example for the whole country not only for his cultural identity, but also in terms of development and modernity.

Kashi gets new projects worth Rs 39 crore
Prime Minister Modi while addressing a public meeting held in Mehndiganj, dedicated new schemes worth Rs 39 crore to the Kashi residents. Along with this, three senior citizens were also provided Ayushman Bharat Card. He said that “Kashi is now not only archaic, but also progressive. It has become the center of economic development of Purvanchal.”
PM Modi said that various projects connecting many parts of Purvanchal will prove to be a milestone towards making the area developed Purvanchal.

Addressing in Bhojpuri, the Prime Minister said, “Our family, Hamare Logan’s Hamar Prana. Referring to the darshan at the Sankatmochan temple, he said that the people of Kashi have gathered to attend the festival of development.
CM Yogi Adityanath said on this occasion that Kashi has not only witnessed a grand event like Mahakumbh 2025, but has reached here in the last 11 years to visit the new Kashi under the leadership of PM Modi.
The foundation stone of road and bridge projects worth Rs 980 crore
PM Modi inaugurated several projects to strengthen road connectivity in Varanasi and laid the foundation stone, which are prominent:
- Bridge between Varanasi Ring Road and Sarnath
- Flyover at Bhikharipur and Manduadih crossings
- Underpass Tunnel Road on NH-31 at Varanasi International Airport
The total cost of all these projects is more than Rs 980 crore.
New projects in the field of education and sports
The Prime Minister inaugurated the Government Polytechnic College in Pindra, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel College in Barki village, 356 rural libraries and 100 Anganwadi centers.
Under the Smart City Mission, 77 primary schools were renovated and the foundation stone of the new building for Kasturba Gandhi School in Cholapur was laid.
Under development in sports sector:
- Synthetic Hockey Turf and Viewer Gallery at Uday Pratap College
- Foundation of Mini Stadium in Shivpur
Redevelopment and water projects along the banks of the Ganges
Prime Minister on Ganges River In front ghat and Shastri ghat Inaugurated redevelopment works of. Other than this:
- 130 rural drinking water schemes worth Rs 345 crore under Water Life Mission
- Improvement of six municipal wards of Varanasi
- Inauguration of landscaping and sculpture installation works in the city
