Indian actor and film director Manoj Kumar died on Friday at the age of 87 at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai. According to reports, he died of cardiogenic shock caused by acute myocardial infarction or severe heart attack. Reports also confirmed that the actor was suffering from liver cirrhosis for a few months, affecting his health.
The body of actor Manoj Kumar will be kept in the hospital today. Manoj Kumar’s sons are with him but some close members of the family live abroad. Relatives from abroad are returning to India late tonight. Manoj Kumar’s wife is also unwell and doctors are at home to examine him. The funeral of the veteran actor will be performed at the Hindu crematorium in Vile Parle at 12 noon.
Prime Minister Modi paid tribute
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also expressed grief over the death of Manoj Kumar. The Prime Minister posted on Instagram and paid tribute to the legendary actor. The Prime Minister wrote, “Manoj Kumar ji was a symbol of Indian cinema, he is especially remembered for his patriotism, which was reflected in his films. Manoj ji’s work woke up the spirit of national pride and will continue to inspire generations. My sensations are with his family and fans in this hour of grief. Om Shanti.”
