Mumbai: A prematurely born baby girl was found in a public garbage bin in Kandivali West on Monday afternoon. Doctors later declared her dead. The Charkop police are working to trace her parents and have registered an FIR against unidentified persons for abandoning the baby.
According to the police, around 4.30 p.m. on Monday, a passerby noticed a plastic bag near a garbage bin in the MHADA colony. The bag had blood stains, prompting the passerby to immediately inform the police.
Police officers arrived at the scene and found the prematurely born baby girl inside the bag. She was rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared her dead. The body was sent for a post-mortem examination.
Investigators are checking nearby hospitals and maternity homes to identify if anyone had recently given birth to a premature baby girl. Preliminary findings suggest the baby was abandoned by someone who arrived at the location in an autorickshaw.
The investigation is ongoing, and police are actively gathering evidence to locate the person responsible for abandoning the baby.
