Mumbai: A biopic is being made on Sukumar Sen, the country’s first Election Commissioner who conducted the first general elections of independent India. Saif Ali Khan will play the lead role in this.
Along with Saif, Pratik Gandhi and Deepak Dobriyal will also be seen in important roles.
The first general elections of independent India were held in 1951–52 under the leadership of returning officer Sukumar Sen. This was the first election for the government machinery, for the public and for the political parties in an independent country.
This election, which was successfully conducted amidst many poor equipment and difficult challenges, laid the foundation for all future elections in the country.
‘Raees’ producer Rahul Dholakia is going to direct this film. The film is currently in pre-production and shooting is likely to begin next April-May. The film will be released directly on OTT.
