Gangapur Assembly Constituency’s MLA Prashant Bumb has levied corruption allegations on the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation (CSMC) Commissioner and Administrator G Srikanth and other officers.
MLA Bumb said that he, as the people’s representative, had sought information about the expenditure of the funds in CSMC, but he was not provided with the information. Then he applied to get the information through the Right to Information Act (RTI), but still, the administration has not provided him with the required information even after four months. He declared that today, Jan 3, he will personally go and meet the administrator and will seek information regarding the CSMC’s expenditures.
Bamb further added that money was received under the Smart City scheme and other government projects by the CSMC. He claimed possession of some photocopies of documents detailing the alleged embezzlement. He claimed to have received the document from his reliable sources, due to which he is raising suspicion over large-scale embezzlement in the CSMC.
According to Bamb, Srikanth and other senior officers are involved in the corruption. He alleged that Srikanth, after becoming the CSMC’s commissioner, brought five to six officers from the Sales Tax Department on deputation. As Srikanth was the commissioner of the Sales Tax Department earlier, Bamb raised doubts over the administrator’s actions. Bamb said he would seek clarification for all his doubts from Srikanth after meeting him today.
Regarding the unavailability of the expense information, Bamb said that when he went to the CSMC, he was not provided with the information. He alleged that the CSMC has made enormous expenses on unwanted projects and not for providing civic facilities. The administration has assured him that he will be given the required information, he added.
