Brother’s influence

The people in the corridors often see the influence of the kin of ministers and politicians in the government. But an IAS officer’s brother has suddenly become powerful in a department. His brother controls the supply orders of the department. He is working on a large scale in the department, which has somehow stopped the entry of any other supplier. The IAS officer let his brother enter the department as a supplier during his posting in the department. The government has shifted the officer from there, but his brother is still influential. He is close to the minister of the department. There are reports that the officer introduces his brother to the department, where the government transfers him. He has begun to allot supplies to his brother in the present department. The officer’s conduct has spawned resentment among the suppliers working for the department for a long time.

Real power

The power of a divisional commissioner is visible for the first time after his posting. He was not showing keenness in the work of the division. The Sahib failed to impress the officials of his division for lack of interest in work. The commissioner, however, looks happy after acting against another officer. The Sahib suspended an officer after receiving instructions from the higher-ups in the government. Many officers are scared of the commissioner. They feel he has the power to suspend any of them. Once the commissioner had absolute control over the department from where the officer was suspended. But the department was centralised with the passage of time. The HoD began to control it. The officers of different districts, functioning under the division, have begun to respect the commissioner.

Departure likely

The head of an important department may have to go. Only a year has passed since the officer joined the department. But the government is planning to shift him. There is no allegation against the officer. But the reason for his proposed transfer is his indecisive nature. The department is important to the government, as it is handling many projects, but nobody is satisfied with the officer’s functioning. He works slowly. This is delaying the important decisions required for the department’s interest. The government has recently decided to shift an officer there, but he had to go to another department. It saved the chair of the HoD. The government shifted the officer many times in the past. He got the present place of posting through clout. His transfer will shock him. 

Uncontrolled anger

The efforts of an officer to control his anger have come to nought. The Sahib keeps his office door open. If he scolds anyone, his voice goes outside the chamber. Anyone visiting his office gets timorous. Many officers have begun to meet the secretary of the department instead of the Sahib. If the Bade Sahib sends any officer to the department, he also tells him to meet the secretary. The Sahib has been rude to the officials of other departments. Some officers told the Bade Sahib they would not discuss anything with the officer because of his temperament. They found a way to deal with him. They decided to discuss everything with the secretary of the department. In turn, the secretary would brief the matter to his boss. His anger has become a problem for other officers as well as for himself. People in the corridors of power keep away from him because of his nature.

RR in divisions

Promotee IAS officers were posted in most of the divisions in the state. But the Bade Sahib wants to post regular recruits to important divisions. The government has posted a regular recruit IAS officer in a division. Many promotee IAS officers were trying to go to the division. But none of them succeeded. He has become the fourth direct recruit to be posted there. The Bade Sahib has set his eyes on two divisions where he wants to send direct recruits. The name of an officer for a division has been fixed. Only this officer will be posted in the division. The higher-ups are mulling over the name of an officer for an important division. If the head of administration and the head of state agree, directly recruited IAS officers will be sent to the division. The division is so important that direct recruits show interest in the division.

All happy

Eventually, a principal secretary (PS) level officer was relieved from a less important position. The government had been making efforts for the past four months to bring the officer back to the mainstream administration. Everyone is happy after the government gave the green signal for it. The officer is happy after a organisation approved his transfer. Other officials are also delighted about it. The officer, posted to the organisation in place of the PS, is also happy. The officer was trying for his posting to Bhopal. The officer sent to the loop line is happy after his name was proposed for this place. The officer also made efforts so that his name is proposed for this place. The post may not be important but is better than his present place of posting. Similarly, the third officer whose name was proposed for a constitutional post is also happy. The officer feared that his name should be proposed for this position, but when the government chose another person, he heaved a sigh of relief.
