Patna: Despite a formal announcement has yet to be made, a consensus has apparently reached among constituents of INDIA bloc that they would contest Bihar assembly election under the leadership of former deputy chief minister and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav as a poster put up at their meeting on Sunday suggested.
INDIA bloc in Bihar comprises RJD, Congress, CPI (ML), CPI, CPI (M) and Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP).
“What INDIA bloc leaders avoided ‘admitting’ in words, their poster which was put up on a dais shared by them during the meeting clearly hinted at that,” an RJD leader remarked. In the poster, there was only a photograph of Tejashwi as no other INDIA bloc leader was given space in it. Grand alliance constituents’ respective symbols were printed on the poster.
The poster clearly hints that there is unanimous stamp of approval for Tejashwi as the CM face of the grand alliance in Bihar, a part of INDIA bloc, for the coming state assembly election. The issue of CM face in INDIA bloc assumed special significance after AICC In charge of Bihar Krishan Allavaru had categorically said that the CM face would be decided after the election. He, however, evaded a reply on the CM issue after the meeting.
The meeting was presided over by Tejashwi, who is also the chairman of the coordination committee, and was attended by other senior leaders of the INDIA bloc, MPs, MLAS, MLCs, office bearers and coalition partners’ state units and their district presidents.
Leaders of INDIA bloc also observed silence to pay tributes to those killed in Pahalgam terror attack. The meeting lasted around three hours.
Tejashwi exhorted INDIA bloc leaders to tell people about the achievements made by the alliance when it was in power for 17 months in the state. He also told leaders to raise their voice forcefully against alleged growing menace of corruption and rising crime graph in the state.
After the meeting of grand alliance leaders which was third in row to formulate strategy for the Bihar polls, RJD MP and spokesperson Manoj Jha told newspersons that there was no dispute over the face of Tejashwi and said that the announcement about it would be made on time. “We have to wait for the announcement with full perseverance,” he remarked.
INDIA bloc’s all constituents have the main objective to work on dialogue with better coordination, he added.
Allavaru said that all INDIA bloc`s partners would make preparations for the election from panchayat level to the state level, adding that the alliance would contest all 243 units as a cohesive unit. He said that all constituents of the INDIA bloc would fully back the nationwide general strike called by trade unions on May 20 against four labour codes.
CPI (ML) general secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya on CM face said that the issue would be discussed after the election results were out while VIP leader Mukesh Sahni said that there was no confusion over it as the party, which had votes and strength, would lead the alliance.
