Mumbai: After the immense success of ‘Ponniyin Selvan 1’, directed by Mani Ratnam, now the second part of this film is going to release soon. The teaser of ‘Ponniyin Selvan 2’ has recently surfaced in front of the audience. The film is scheduled to release on 28 April 2023. Lyca Productions posted a teaser on their Twitter account informing the fans about the release date. PS-2 stars Vikram, Aishwarya Rai, Karthi and Jayam Ravi in lead roles.
The screenplay of this film is written by Mani Ratnam along with Elango Kumaravel. So A. R. Rahman has composed the music for the film. It is Mani Ratnam’s ‘dream project’ and has a stellar cast.
Ponniyin Selvan also stars Trisha Krishnan, Prakash Raj, Jayaram, Sobhita Dhulipala, Aishwarya Lakshmi. Aishwarya plays a double role in it. She has played dual roles as Rani Nandini and Mandakini Devi who are out for revenge. His powerful performance in the first part was appreciated by the audience and critics.

Ponniyin Selvan-1 was released in the month of September this year. Originally in Tamil, the film was dubbed into Hindi, Kannada, Telugu and Malayalam languages. After the theatre, the film was released on the OTT platform Amazon Prime Video.
PS-1 had earned more than Rs 300 crore worldwide. The story of the film is based on the Tamil novel by Kalki Krishnamurthy. This is the story of Arulmozhivarman, one of the most powerful kings of the South. He ruled over the Chola Empire in the 10th century.
