Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sent a chadar to be offered at the Dargah of Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti, Ajmer Sharif. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju offered this chadar at the Dargah. Politics has started on this. AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi accused it of a “double standard”, saying PM Modi was giving a symbolic message by sending the chadar, while his government was promoting court cases against mosques and dargahs.

Owaisi’s statement:

  • Claims on Mosques and Dargahs:

Owaisi said that BJP and Sangh Parivar make claims in the court regarding mosques and dargahs, which increases communal tension.

  • Government’s silence on China:

He alleged that the government is silent on the activities of China, which is building mines and dams on Indian land.

Court petition on the issue:

A petition has demanded to stop the chadar sent by the Prime Minister from being offered at the Dargah. However, this chadar was offered in Ajmer Sharif on 6 January.

Main allegations of Owaisi:

  1. Double standards:
    • On one hand, PM Modi sends chadar for Dargah, on the other hand he promotes court cases against mosques and dargahs.
  2. Message to Muslims:
    • According to Owaisi, by sending the sheet, an attempt is being made to give the message that the PM also takes care of the Muslim community.
  3. China issue:
    • He accused the government of not taking any concrete steps regarding China’s activities.
