Union Home Minister Amit Shah attacked the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) amidst the ongoing controversy over the Tri-Bhasha formula. He accused the ruling party of Tamil Nadu and said that DMK is making language a political weapon to hide its corruption. Shah made this statement during a discussion on the functioning of the Ministry of Home Affairs in the Rajya Sabha on Friday. He said that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will take this issue from village to village and put the truth in front of the public.

Frequency between Center and Tamil Nadu on Tri-Language Policy

The Tamil Nadu government has been accusing the central government of imposing Hindi in the state for a long time. DMK says that under the National Education Policy (NEP), the Central Government wants to force the Tri-Language formula, while Tamil Nadu wants to maintain the decades-old two-language (Tamil and English) policy.

However, Home Minister Amit Shah dismissed this claim and said that Hindi does not compete with any Indian language, but it is the ‘friend’ of all Indian languages. He clarified that with the strengthening of Hindi, all Indian languages will also be strengthened and Hindi will also be prosperous with the development of all languages.

New app to promote Indian languages

Shah announced to develop a translation app to promote linguistic coordination. This app will help translate all Indian languages into Hindi and English. He said that after December, the central government will correspond with the Chief Ministers, Ministers and MPs of all the states in their own language.

He attacked DMK and said,
“Those who are doing politics in the name of language, they are actually doing this to hide their corruption. We will go from village to village to reveal their truth. Now there should be talk of development, not the language should be made weapons.”

‘Every Indian language jewel of our culture’

Amit Shah said that every language of India is an integral part of its culture. He lashed out at DMK and said that people who call the Bharatiya Janata Party as anti -South Indian languages are spreading lies. They said,
“I come from Gujarat, Nirmala ji comes from Tamil Nadu. How can we be against Indian languages?”

Promise to study medical-engineering in Tamil

Shah claimed that the central government has been asking the Tamil Nadu government to start medical and engineering studies in Tamil for two years, but the state government has been unable to do so. He said that if the BJP government comes to power in Tamil Nadu, medical and engineering courses will be made available in Tamil language.

Appeal to stop politics on language

The Home Minister said that some people are spreading poison in the name of language. Taking a sarcasm, he said that such people like foreign languages thousands of kilometers away, but the languages of India do not look good.

He reiterated that the NDA government is fully committed to the development of Indian languages and continuous efforts are being made in this direction.
