Islamabad: Pakistan, which has suffered heavy losses due to the action of the Indian Army during Operation Sindoor, is now seen moving towards military rule. After being defeated in this operation, the Pakistani army is gaining dominance over Shahbaz Sharif’s civilian government. This is not a superficial thing, but there is strong evidence. Actually, another similar action has been taken in the military history of Pakistan, which has caught the attention of the whole world.
The Pakistani government has surrendered to its current Army Chief General Aseem Munir. He has given General Munir the title of highest military rank, Field Marshall. Now General Munir has become the second army chief to become a field martial in the history of the Pakistani Army after former Pakistan military ruler General Mohammad Ayub Khan.
The Pakistani government on Tuesday announced the appointment of Munir as a field marshal. Before him, only General Mohammad Ayub Khan got this status in 1959. But there is a big difference between the appointments and circumstances of both. Despite this, there is speculation that Munir’s Ayub Khan’s map step behind the curtain.
Ayub took power.
Muhammad Ayub Khan was the President of Pakistan from 1958 to 1969. In 1958, he captured power through military coup and made himself President. In 1959, when he was close to retirement, he gave himself the title of Field Marshal. Ayub claimed that he did this at repeated requests of Pakistan’s civil society. But it is considered an honor given to itself.

After becoming a field marshal, he handed over the command of the army to General Musa Khan and focused on running the country. Ayub’s military career was also full of controversies. In 1928, he received a commission in the Punjab Regiment of India and was the Commanding Officer of the Assam Regiment during World War II. But his commander fired him from the job due to weak leadership. Nevertheless, in 1951, he became the first commander-in-chief of the Pakistani Army and held the post till 1958.
Appointment of Aseem Munir
Shahbaz Sharif’s government has approved the promotion of Asim Munir to the post of Field Marshal. The decision between India and Pakistan recent military tension and operation vermilion, which was named by Pakistan, was taken in the backdrop of Operation Banyan-ul-Marsus. Unlike Ayub Khan, Munir was given the post by the Civil Government, although it was only for showing. They did not take it themselves.
Army chief change in Pakistan and career of infinite Munir
A significant change is that Ayub Khan is no longer an army chief after becoming a field martial. In his place, Aseem Munir is working as the new army chief of Pakistan. In November 2024, Pakistan’s National Assembly extended the tenure of the army, Navy and Air Force chiefs from three years to five years. Therefore, Aseem Munir will now remain the Chief of Army Staff till 2027.
Aseem Munir’s military career
Aseem Munir was born in 1968 in Rawalpindi. In 1986, he received a commission from Officers Training School in Mangla, Punjab and was awarded the Sword of Honor during training. He received special military training in Japan, Malaysia and Islamabad. While serving in Saudi Arabia, he remembered the entire Quran.
