Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta presented the government budget for the financial year 2025-26 in the assembly on Tuesday. However, this budget did not like the opposition. Leader of Opposition Atishi strongly criticized this budget of the government, calling it “baseless, unrealistic and air-air”. He described it as “the budget of the disaster government” and also challenged Chief Minister Gupta to make the Economic Survey figures public.
Attack on BJP government, ‘disaster government’ agreement
Atishi wrote on social media, taking a dig at the government’s budget,
“BJP’s ‘calamity’ government has given Delhi a wind-air budget. There is no economic basis for the budget of 1 lakh crores, otherwise why does it need to hide the economic survey? I challenge Rekha Gupta ji-make public the figures of economic survey. Milk milk and water will be water.”
He alleged that the government deliberately hid the Economic Survey before presenting the budget. According to him,
“If the Delhi government had really had a revenue of 1 lakh crores, they would not refrain from presenting an economic survey in the assembly.”
Why was the economic survey not kept before the budget?
Atishi accused the government of breaking the traditions and said,
“Till date, an economic survey has been presented before the budget in all the houses of the country. It has important information like GDP, per capita income and tax collection of the state. But this time it has not happened. For the first time in the last 10 years, the first time has been presented that the budget was presented without an economic survey.
