Mumbai News: Police Temporary Bans Paragliders & Drones In City For One Month | Pinterest

Mumbai: The Mumbai Police have banned the use of drones, remote-controlled microlight aircraft, paragliders, and hot air balloons for a month to prevent any possible sabotage, officials said on Thursday. The prohibitory order, issued under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita, will be effective from April 4 to May 5.

The order highlights the risk that terrorists and anti-social elements might exploit these flying devices to carry out attacks, target VVIPs, cause harm to public property, or disrupt law and order within the Mumbai Police Commissionerate jurisdiction, as reported by the news agency PTI.

The order states that certain activities need to be restricted in the city to prevent potential sabotage using flying objects, and some safety measures must be put in place. As a result, flying drones, remote-controlled microlight aircraft, and paragliders will not be allowed in the Mumbai Police’s jurisdiction, except for police aerial surveillance or with special permission from the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) as per the report.

Anyone who breaks this rule will be punished under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which deals with disobeying a lawful order from a public official.
