Jaipur: Villagers have attacked police force who had come to rescue hostage policemen in Sikar, Rajasthan late at night on Tuesday. More than 11 policemen, including the CI and SI have been seriously injured in the attack. The attackers damaged the police vehicles as well.
The incident took place at 11:30 pm on Tuesday night in Daala Wali Dhani of Ajitgarh police station in Sikar district. The police have arrested 12 accused on the FIR lodged by the SHO Mukesh Kumar of Ajitgarh police station.
As per reports,, three policemen of Ajitgarh police station had gone to arrest Mahipal, the absconding accused in the assault case on Tuesday evening when the marriage procession of Mahipal’s acquaintance was going through the village. The people protested the arrest and took the three policemen hostage.
More than 30 policemen from Khandela, Srimadhopur, Ajitgarh, Thoi and Ringas police stations reached to rescue hostage policemen at around 11 pm, but the force was attacked by the villagers. Stones were pelted at the police and three police vehicles were badly damaged.
The policemen were somehow freed and the injured were rushed to the hospital. Due to the protest of the villagers, the accused Mahipal got absconded again.
Superintendent of Police Bhuvan Bhushan Yadav said that attack on police is a serious matter. More than 12 people have been arrested, and the investigation is going on. Strict action will be taken against the culprits of the attack.
