Meerut: The probe in the spine-chilling heinous murder of the Saurabh Rajput, Merchant Navy officer in UP’s Meerut has reveled new horrific details. As per media reports, the accused, Muskan Rastogi had tricked her lover Sahil Shukla into conspiring her husband’s murder.

Muskan reportedly posed as Sahil’s dead mother and sent messages to him on Snapchat, convincing him to kill her husband. Muskan had been planning the murder since November 2024.

“The [Snapchat] account was not in the name of Sahil’s mother, but the messages were sent by Muskan in a way that she made him believe that his dead mother had reincarnated and was speaking to him,” Superintendent of Police (Meerut City) Ayush Vikram Singh was quoted by NDTV as saying.

How Murder Unfolded

On the night of March 4, Muskan allegedly adulterated Saurabh’s food with sedatives which left him unconscious. She then called Sahil to her house. The duo then stabbed Saurabh in the chest with a butcher’s knife and then slit his throat.

In an attempt to dispose of the body, they cut off his hands, purchased a large plastic drum, cement and sand from a nearby market the next day, and sealed Saurabh’s body inside the drum, hiding it in their house.

Saurabh’s mother Renu Devi has revealed, Saurabh’s six-year-old daughter kept telling neighbours, “Papa drum mein hai”(Papa is in the drum).

How Murder Came To Light

The murder came to light after Muskan’s parents approached the police, revealing that their daughter had confessed to the crime, which prompted the police to arrest both Muskan and Sahil, who led them to the house where the body was hidden.

Muskaan’s Parents Want Her Hanged

Muskaan’s parents have claimed that their daughter and Sahil were into drugs and killed Saurabh because he would have stopped their meet-ups.

Muskan’s parents further said, “Our daughter was the problem. She got him separated from his family. And she has now done this.” Asked what punishment they want for their daughter, the couple replied, with teary eyes, “She should be hanged. She has lost the right to live.”
