Navi Mumbai: In Sanpada firing case, a total of eight teams involving Sanpada local police and Unit I crime branch, have been investigating the matter who have claimed that the accused has been identified and matter of time that he would be nabbed soon.

“The accused is identified and he is on our radar. Our team is behind him and he would be arrested soon,” said a police officer investigating the case.

The accused as per the police, held a contract in the past, similar to that of the victim Rajaram Thoke who is still under treatment. “After the contract of the accused had expired, Thoke got the renewed contract. The accused had a grudge about the same,” added the officer.

The police have been trying to find the trail of the motorbike used by the accused for crime. The bike is also untraceable as of now.

The police suspect that the accused along with another person had been doing a recce since few days. “It is still unclear if the accused had hired someone for shooting or he did it himself. Only after the arrest, it would be clear,” the police added.

Thoke who is still admitted in hospital told police that he still shocked to know that someone actually wanted to kill him and he has no idea who would have attempted to do the same.

The incident happened on Friday morning when Thoke along with his two friends had gone to tea stall in Sanpada. While his friends were having tea at the stall, Thoke was waiting in the car for them. Two men on bike came and shot five rounds from close range of which three rounds hit him at shoulder, stomach and hand.
