Mumbai: The Malad police registered a case against a husband and wife for allegedly obstructing government work by arguing with a constable and two female police constables on duty.

The husband and wife have been identified as Mohammad Yunus Wahiddin Baladiwala, 52, and Shabnam Mohammad Yunus Baladiwala, 47, both residents of Chincholi Bunder Road, Mayashal Tower, Malad.

After being detained, both were released with a notice under Section 35(3) of the Indian Penal Code. The case was filed on January 1.

According to the FIR, the incident took place in front of Dakshin Bar, near Chincholi Gate in Malad, late on Tuesday night.

Arun Pawar, a resident of Marol Police Colony in Andheri, is working as a police constable at the Malad police station. He was performing official duty in front of Chincholi Gate, South Bar, at around 3.00 PM on Tuesday.

A couple were intoxicated and shouted and argued with bypassers unnecessarily. When the police requested them to calm down and did not argue. Mohammad Yunus, who was drunk at the time, tried to argue with him and pushed him. He also attempted to break the nameplate on his shirt and attack him.

When women police constables Jagtap and Bhangle, who were present at the scene, noticed this, they tried to pull Mohammad Yunus aside. At this moment, Shabnam, who was with Mohammad Yunus, bit the hands of both female constables.

Additionally, Bhangle was kicked hard in the stomach, and her hand was scratched with nails. The police filed a case against both under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Maharashtra Prohibition Act.
