Police killed two dacoits in a major encounter in Patna district of Bihar in the early hours of Tuesday. This encounter took place in Phulwarisharif area of Patna at around 3:30 am. A dacoit has also been arrested in this action. During the encounter, Inspector Vivek Kumar of Gaurichak police station was also shot, who was immediately admitted to Patna AIIMS for treatment.
The criminals had arrived with the intention of robbery
Confirming the encounter, Patna SSP Akaash Kumar said that the dacoits were planning a major robbery. When the police cordoned off the area, the criminals started firing at the police.
- Retaliatory action: Police retaliated in self-defence, in which two dacoits were shot.
- Declared dead: Both the dacoits were taken to the local Primary Health Center (PHC), where doctors declared them dead.

Inspector injured during encounter
During the encounter, Inspector Vivek Kumar was shot by the criminals. He has been admitted to Patna AIIMS in critical condition.

History of Dacoits: Ajay Rai Encounter
Bihar Police has recently taken action against many big dacoits.

- Last month, STF had killed notorious dacoit Ajay Rai in an encounter in Jakkanpur, Patna.
- Ajay Rai was the leader of the bank robbery gang and was repeatedly changing his identity to escape from the police.
- He was hiding in a rented house in Jakkanpur.

The increase in incidents of bank robbery and looting in Bihar has alerted the police.
