Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Police cracked the case of loot at Kolar Crossing and arrested half-a-dozen looters involved in the incident on Friday. Rs 10 lakh looted cash and some bikes used in the crime were seized from the accused, police officials said.
As per reports, resident of Chuna Bhatti area grain trader Sahil and his partner Rohit were returning after collecting cash from Jumerati Bazaar on Wednesday when some persons on bikes hit their scooter near Kolar Crossing.
The duo fell from the vehicle while the miscreants fled with their bag containing Rs 15 lakh cash. An FIR was registered against unidentified looters at Chuna Bhatti police station. Multiple police teams including Crime Branch led by Additional DCP (crime) Shailendra Singh Chauhan and ACP Nishatpura Richa Jain were roped in to identify and trace the looters.
After scanning CCTV footages and surveillance, police teams traced location of the looters and arrested six persons from Bhopal and Sehore district. DCP Zone-4 Jitendra Singh Pawar said the arrested accused were mastermind of the loot Deepak Patel (26), including Santosh aka Lallan (20) both of Bhopal and Rishabh Thakur (22), Vipin Chauhan (22), Bhupendra Thakur (33) and Abhishek Chauhan (22) of Sehore district.
Questioning of the accused revealed that Deepak Patel conducted a reconnaissance of Sahil and planned the loot. The accused on different bikes followed Sahil and Rohit when they left Jumerati Bazaar. Deepak and Lallan rammed their bike into Sahil’s scooter while other accused snatched cash.
