Kolkata . West Bengal Police has arrested her husband Prakash Kumar as the main accused in Jharkhand actress Rhea Kumari murder case. The actress was shot from close range in her car at Beganan in Howrah district yesterday.
Official sources said on Thursday that the relatives of the actress complained to the Bengal Police that Riya’s husband used to beat her constantly. After receiving this complaint, the Bengal Police swung into action and Prakash was arrested. Prakash is arrested for the murder of his wife.
Sources said that Riya was Prakash’s second wife and other members of her family also used to torture the actress. The relatives of the deceased gave this information in their complaint to the police. Sources said that after the post mortem report and forensic test report came. Only then the cause of the death of the actress will be clear. Meanwhile, Prakash told the police that three miscreants attacked him with the intention of looting and shot his wife at close range. The accused will be produced in the court. Police said their lawyers will seek court to grant police custody of the accused for a few more days as further investigation is required in the case.
Prakash told the police in his statement that he was driving the car and Riya was sitting in the car with her three-year-old daughter. Sources said that according to Prakash’s statement, the murder took place around 6 am on Wednesday when he was coming from Ranchi to Kolkata by car. On the way, he had stopped the car at Mahishrekha police station in Bagnan of Uluberia sub-division of Howrah district to go to the minor. When he got down from the car, three assailants attacked the actress from behind with the intention of looting and shot her at close range, due to which the actress died.
