Dhaka: After the removal of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina from power, the condition of minority Hindus in Bangladesh is worsening. In such a situation, after the arrest of ISKCON Pundarik Dham President Chinmoy Krishnan Das in Chittagong, the court on Tuesday rejected his bail plea. On Tuesday, the police also p.cked after Jamaat and BNP workers attacked Hindu protesters protesting against their arrest. Police threw grenades at Hindu protesters outside the court, killing one Hindu. On Tuesday, a double whammy situation arose for Hindus in Bangladesh.

The situation has worsened in the last few days for Hindus, who have been facing continuous communal violence in Bangladesh since the fall of Sheikh Hasina’s government. Bangladesh Police arrested ISKCON saint Chinmoy Das Brahmachari from Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal Airport on Monday and produced him in a Chittagong court on Tuesday, where Chinmoy Das applied for bail. The court rejected his bail and ordered him to be sent to jail.

However, Hindus continued to protest against Sant Chinmoy’s arrest on Tuesday and gathered in thousands outside the court in Chittagong. They raised slogans against the interim government and system of Bangladesh. They surrounded the jail van in the court premises and demonstrated for about two and a half hours. At this time, the police lathicharged the Hindus and threw sound grenades. In this clash, one Hindu died while six people were injured.

Earlier, Bangladesh Police on Monday arrested ISKCON saint and ISKCON Chittagong Pundarik Dham president Chinmoy Krishnan Das on sedition charges, following which thousands of Hindus took to the streets and held peaceful rallies to protest.

Hindus took out a rally in Maulvi Bazaar raising slogans of Jai Siya Ram and Har Har Mahadev. Hindus took out peace rallies across the country on Monday night to protest the arrests, but they were attacked by radical elements of Jamaat-e-Islami and Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), injuring more than 50 people.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh’s interim government Mohammad Yunus has made an announcement as huge anger is being seen among Hindus in Bangladesh and India over the arrest of Hindu saint Chinmoy Das. The Yunus government minister claimed that Chinmoy Krishna Das has been arrested not because he is a Hindu but on charges of treason. Yunus government will take strict action against any traitor who threatens the sovereignty and independence of Bangladesh.
