Poisonous liquor in amritsar: 14 people died after drinking poisonous liquor on Monday (May 12) in Majitha in Amritsar district of Punjab. While the condition of 5 is said to be critical, who has been admitted to the hospital for treatment. Most of the deceased are residents of Bhangali and Marari Kalan villages. Avtar Singh, SHO of Majitha police station, said, more than 10 people have lost their lives due to drinking poisonous liquor. Further investigation is being done in this case.
Five people were arrested.
SSP Maninder Singh of Amritsar said, ‘People have died due to drinking poisonous liquor. The entire case is being investigated. Prabhjeet Singh has been arrested in this case. Who is the main mastermind to supply poisonous liquor. A case has been registered against him under Section 105 BNS and 61A of the Excise Act. Apart from this, Prabhjeet’s brother Kulbir Singh alias Jaggu and Sahib Singh alias Sarai, Gurjant Singh, Ninder Kaur have also been arrested.
The network of poisonous liquor is being investigated. The government has ordered a strict inquiry against the liquor mafia. This incident has created an atmosphere of panic in the entire area. Significantly, this is not the first case of death by drinking poisonous alcohol. Even before this, such cases have been reported from various districts of Punjab, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat.
