A total of 473 vehicles owned by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) were scrapped in accordance with the Central Government’s Vehicle Scrapping Policy 2021. These vehicles had completed their 15-year lifespan.

The PMC had estimated the value of the vehicles at Rs 6.33 crore. An e-auction for the scrapping was conducted on March 25, March 28, and April 3 via the MSTC E-Commerce web portal. Three registered vehicle scrapping companies participated and successfully purchased the vehicles.

Through this auction process, the PMC earned a total of Rs 8.13 crore (including GST), which has already been deposited into the Municipal Corporation’s treasury.

The delivery of the vehicles to the respective companies is set to begin in two days. Currently, the vehicles are parked on approximately 4.5 acres at HM Parking in Kondhwa.

The PMC had received several complaints from nearby schools and residential colonies regarding the inconvenience caused due to the presence of these old vehicles.
