New Delhi, February 1: In a heart-warming moment, after the presentation of the Union Budget 2025-26 in the Lok Sabha, the ministers and Members of Parliament (MPs) warmly congratulated Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for the budget. They all walked up to her seat and greeted her personally for presenting a Budget towards fulfilling Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s resolve of ‘Vikasit Bharat’ by 2047.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh were among the leaders who congratulated and greeted the finance minister for presenting the budget in the Parliament.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also walked up to the Finance Minister’s seat and personally greeted her, appreciating the efforts made in preparing and presenting the budget.
The Finance Minister received applause from several leaders present in the Parliament, reflecting support and acknowledgment for the budget’s key highlights and proposals.
Major Relief For Salaried Class
The major highlight of the Budget 2025-26 was the major relief provided by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to the middle class as she announced that the individuals earning up to ₹12 lakh annually will not have to pay any income tax under the new tax regime. For salaried employees, this nil tax limit will be ₹12.75 lakh per annum, after taking into account a standard deduction of ₹75,000.
The finance minister said in the Parliament, “I am now happy to announce that there will be no income tax payable up to income of Rs 12 lakh (i.e. average income of Rs 1 lakh per month other than special rate income such as capital gains) under the new regime”
