Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday (January 4) inaugurated additional 13-kilometre section of Namo Bharat Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) connecting Sahibabad in Ghaziabad and New Ashok Nagar in Noida. Operationalisation of this stretch of the RRTS has connected Meerut with Noida and Delhi. PM Inaugurated the rail corridor at 11 am on Sunday. With this inauguration, Namo Bharat RRTS between Noida and Meerut has become a 55 km corridor. There are 11 stations.
On Sunday morning, PM Modi boarded the train at Sahibabad and travelled towards New Ashok Nagar. Before the journey, the PM book a QR ticket using UPI for payment. During his journey, he interacted with school children who were onboard.
The rail section was slated to be open for public at 5 pm on Sunday.
Passengers wanting to travel from New Ashok Nagar to Meerut South from regular coach can do so by buying Rs 150 ticket. Premium coach ticket will cost Rs 255.
Six out of 13 kilometres of the newly inaugurated section are underground. The section has a station at Anand Vihar, a major transit hub which also has staions on blue and pink lines of Delhi Metro. Anand Vihar has a bus terminal and a railway station as well.
The RRTS station at New Ashok Nagar will have interchange between blue line of Delhi Metro.
In October last year, PM Modi inaugurated 17 km section between Sahibababd and Duhai Depot.
Before Sunday’s inauguration, the 42 km stretch between Sahibabad and Meerut was already operational.
