At the inauguration and foundation-laying ceremony and various development projects in village Mohabhatta, Bilaspur district, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai presented a special memento to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The tribute, crafted in honour of Bilasa Devi Kewat, a legendary warrior of Chhattisgarh, symbolizes women’s power, self-reliance, and leadership.
Bilasa Devi was a courageous, hardworking, and visionary woman, after whom Bilaspur, one of Chhattisgarh’s major cities, is named. She belonged to the Kewat community, historically known for its role in water transport, service, and honesty. The Kewat community’s role in Lord Shri Ram’s journey remains an enduring example of devotion and duty in Indian tradition.
Bilasa Devi’s life is a testament to the fact that women can break barriers and create history. Her leadership, hard work, and skills proved that whether in administration or social leadership, no one is behind. The memento embodies those values, serving as a reflection of courage, determination, and empowerment.
