Prayagraj: Prime Minister Narendra Modi described Maha Kumbh 2025 as the world’s largest cultural confluence and a symbol of India’s rich spiritual heritage. He inaugurated several infrastructure projects and performed a ceremonial worship of the Kumbh Kalash on Friday, seeking divine blessings for the event’s success.

Calling Maha Kumbh a living testament to India’s spiritual legacy, PM Modi said, “Maha Kumbh embodies India’s timeless cultural and spiritual journey, bringing millions together in shared devotion and tradition.” He emphasized that the event represents the unity of religion, knowledge, devotion, and art, dissolving social and communal divisions.

Acknowledging the event’s spiritual magnitude, he added, “The spiritual consciousness of Kumbh draws people from every corner of India to the sacred banks of the Sangam. Saints, scholars, and common citizens converge here, united by shared faith and devotion.”

PM Modi Expresses Deep Gratitude To Sanitation Workers

The PM expressed deep gratitude toward sanitation workers and organizers ensuring the seamless execution of the 45-day-long global event. “Hosting millions of devotees daily is a colossal endeavour. The dedication of those working behind the scenes is setting new benchmarks in event management,” he remarked.

Highlighting the critical role of cleanliness, PM Modi praised the Namami Gange initiative’s contribution to improving sanitation and waste management in Prayagraj. He announced the deployment of over 15,000 sanitation workers, including Gangadoots, Ganga Praharis, and Ganga Mitras, tasked with keeping the city clean throughout the festival. “I extend my deepest gratitude to the sanitation workers and volunteers committed to making this grand event successful,” he added.

Reaffirming Prayagraj’s spiritual significance, PM Modi quoted ancient scriptures, saying, “When the sun enters Capricorn, all divine powers, pilgrimages, and sages converge at Prayag. This spiritual legacy has been celebrated since time immemorial and finds mention in the Vedas and Puranas.”

PM Modi Inaugurates Several Infrastructure Projects

As part of the preparations, PM Modi inaugurated several infrastructure projects worth crores, including 10 new road over bridges, permanent ghats, and riverfront roads. These upgrades aim to boost connectivity and facilitate the smooth movement of millions of pilgrims expected to visit. Additionally, he launched the ‘Kumbh Sah’AI’yak’ chatbot, designed to offer real-time guidance and updates about the festival.

He also performed rituals at iconic spiritual sites like Akshay Vata Vriksh, Hanuman Mandir, and Saraswati Koop. “The Maha Kumbh 2025 will be a magnificent celebration of India’s spiritual and cultural heritage. Together, let us ensure its grand success,” PM Modi concluded, calling for collective efforts from citizens and authorities alike.

What Is Maha Kumbh

The Maha Kumbh, held every 12 years, is set to commence on January 13, 2025, and conclude on February 26, 2025. Key bathing dates, known as ‘Shahi Snan’ (royal baths), include January 14 (Makar Sankranti), January 29 (Mauni Amavasya), and February 3 (Basant Panchami). The Uttar Pradesh Police will integrate advanced AI-based surveillance to bolster security during the event, Director General of Police (DGP) Prashant Kumar announced.
