Petrol Price News Today Latest: Pakistan Government’s big gift on Eid, petrol became cheaper

Islamabad: On the occasion of Eid, the government of Pakistan has given a relief good news to the people. The government has announced to cut petrol prices amid the festival’s beauty across the country. This decision has come at a time when inflation has hurt the common man’s pocket deeply. Now the new rates of petrol and diesel will be applicable across the country from midnight.

Petrol became cheaper, diesel prices unchanged

According to the government announcement, the price of petrol has been cut by Rs 1 per liter. After this decision, the new petrol rate will now be Rs 254.63 per liter. However, there has been no change in the prices of diesel and it will still be available at Rs 258.64 per liter.

Public got some relief

Although the amount of deduction is only 1 rupee, this step is being considered a positive sign from the government. This decision has been taken at a time when the general public is struggling with inflation and the price of every important thing is increasing continuously. In such a situation, even this small step of the government can become a relief for the people to some extent.

Base of change in prices – global market and local economy

Changes in petrol and diesel prices are usually done keeping in mind the price of crude oil and domestic economic conditions in the international market. This decision is also said to be based on the same standards. This adjustment in the prices of petroleum products is made every fortnight so that the fluctuations of global prices do not directly affect the people facing the domestic market.

How much tax is being collected on petrol and diesel?

According to the recent report, a total of Rs 107.12 is being charged as tax, duty and margin on one liter of petrol in Pakistan. Similarly, a recovery of Rs 104.59 is being done on one liter high-speed diesel.

This includes:

  • Petroleum Levi: Rs 70 per liter
  • Custom duty: Rs 15.28 on petrol, Rs 15.78 on diesel
  • Dealer commission: Rs 8.64 on both
  • Oil marketing companies margin: Rs 7.87 per liter

The highest petroleum levy in history

It is also worth noting that the petroleum fee of Rs 70 per liter imposed by the government is the highest level ever. This directly affects the common consumers as it is a large part of the price.
