Indian fuel companies update petrol and diesel prices (Petrol-Diesel Price Today) every day at 6 am keeping in mind the international oil market rates. Retail prices of petrol and diesel are determined after adding excise duty, dealer commission, entry tax and various VAT rates across states. Since state governments impose their own VAT on fuel prices, prices of petrol and diesel vary from state to state.

Fall in crude oil prices

Crude oil prices also declined on Tuesday. However, it is still close to 4-month high. Brent futures fell 0.27% to $80.79 a barrel. New US sanctions on Russian crude have prompted major buyers such as India and China to look for new suppliers.

Petrol and diesel prices are updated daily at 6 am. After adding excise duty, dealer commission and VAT, their prices become almost double the original price. This is the reason that small changes in the international market have a direct impact on Indian consumers.
