Petrol-DIESEL Price Today 25 March 2025: If you are thinking of turning to the petrol pump this morning, then wait! According to the latest update of 25 March 2025, there is no change in the prices of petrol and diesel even today. Oil companies have once again retained the old rates, due to which the expectation of relief in prices for the general public is still incomplete.

Prices remain constant stable

Government oil companies – Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum – updated the prices of petrol and diesel this morning like every day, but no changes have been made in the rates. This trend has been seen for the past several months – no increase, no cut. This means that the rate at which the customers are currently filling the oil, the same rate has remained stable for some time.

People hoped that there may be some relief in the festive season or election season, but it could not seem to happen at the moment. In such a situation, the burden of fuel inflation on the domestic budget still remains the same.

When did the price change for the last time?

If you are wondering when the last time the rates of petrol and diesel were reduced, then remind you that in March 2024, their prices were cut by ₹ 2 per liter for the last time. Since then, there has been no reshuffle in these prices for a full year.

Although there has been a continuous fluctuations in crude oil prices in the international market, but its impact is not being seen in the domestic market at the moment. This also means that the government or oil companies are trying to control the prices, but this is not providing any relief to the general public.

Today’s petrol and diesel rates in big cities (in rupees per liter)

If you live in a big city of the country and want to know how much petrol or diesel is being found in your city today, then check the list below:

City Petrol (₹/liter) Diesel (₹/liter)
Delhi 94.72 87.62
Mumbai 103.44 89.97
Kolkata 103.94 90.76
Chennai 100.85 92.44
Bengaluru 102.86 88.94
Lucknow 94.65 87.76
Noida 94.87 88.01
Gurugram 95.19 88.05
Chandigarh 94.24 82.40
Patna 105.18 92.04

The causes of different prices in these cities are tax imposed by the state governments. Therefore, there is a slight difference in every state and city.

How are the prices of petrol and diesel fixed?

Many people think that the government decides the prices of petrol and diesel directly, but the reality is slightly different. Three major government companies in India – Indian Oil, Hindustan Petroleum and Bharat Petroleum -every day update the price of fuel at 6 am.

Many things are kept in mind in their calculations:

  • Crude oil prices in international market
  • Dollar-Rupaya Exchange Rate
  • Tax levied inside the country and by the state governments
  • Cost of transportation and refining

Based on all these factors, the final rate comes out. Therefore, whenever there is a stir in the global market, it also affects the prices of petrol and diesel in India-whether it is immediate or some delay.
