Be it a party or want to make something light for dinner, Pulao is always a great option. Everyone likes Matar Pulao made from sweet peas, especially in winters. This is a quick, tasty and aromatic dish. Here we are telling you an easy and tasty recipe to make perfect matar pulao. Try this and make your family happy.

Ingredients required to make Matar Pulao:

  • soaked rice
  • Peas (fresh and sweet)
  • Potato (chopped)
  • Onion (finely chopped)
  • ginger-garlic paste
  • Green chilli (chopped)
  • Coriander leaves (chopped)
  • Ghee
  • Whole spices: cumin, fennel, star anise, bay leaf, black cardamom, dry red chilli
  • garam masala
  • coriander powder
  • Salt
  • Water

Method to make Matar Pulao:

  1. Prepare the rice:
    • Wash the rice thoroughly 2-3 times and soak it in clean water for 15-20 minutes.
  2. Prepare the vegetables:
    • Finely chop onion and potatoes.
  3. Add tempering:
    • Heat ghee in a pan. Add cumin, fennel, star anise, bay leaf, black cardamom and dry red chilli. Fry the spices lightly.
  4. Fry ginger-garlic and onion:
    • Add ginger-garlic paste to it and fry. Then add onion and green chilli. Cook the onion until it turns golden brown.
  5. Cook Vegetables:
    • Add chopped potatoes and cook covered on low flame. When the potatoes start cooking a little, add peas to it.
  6. Mix rice and spices:
    • Filter the soaked rice and add it to the vegetables. Mix well. Add garam masala, coriander powder and salt to it.
  7. Add water and cook:
    • For one bowl of rice, add one and a half bowl of water. Mix well and cover on low flame and let the rice cook.
  8. Garnish and serve:
    • After the rice is cooked, add chopped coriander leaves and some ghee. Mix it gently and serve hot.

Tips:

  • To make the pulao fluffy, keep the right proportion of water.
  • You can use oil instead of ghee, but ghee tastes better.
  • Serve curd or raita with pulao, the taste will double.
