Rohit Sharma: Indian team captain Rohit Sharma on Saturday put an end to all speculations about his retirement and said, ‘I am not going to retire from Test cricket after the Sydney Test.’ The Indian captain decided not to play the Sydney Test against Australia due to poor form, leading to speculation that this could be the last Test of his Test career.
Rohit talked about the future
In an interview during the Sydney Test match, Rohit put an end to the ongoing speculations about his Test future. Talking about his plans for the near future, Rohit said in this interview, ‘I have decided to withdraw from the playing eleven of this match due to poor form, this is not a decision of retirement. I am not walking away from this game. But I decided to stay away from this match because I could not score runs. There is no guarantee that I will be able to race after 2 months or 5 months. I have seen a lot of cricket. Life changes every minute, every second and every day. So I believe things will change but at the same time I have to remain realistic. People sitting in the commentary box or writing with laptops in their hands will not decide what my life will be like.
This is not a decision of retirement- Rohit
Talking about retirement, Rohit said, ‘I don’t believe what will happen in 6 months or 4 months. I always live in the present and think about what needs to be done right now. This is not a retirement decision. I am out of the match because I am not in form. Life changes every day and I have full faith that things will change. However, I have to stay true to myself and be realistic. I’m wiser. I am mature and a father of 2 children. So I know when to do what. For this you have to understand what the team needs. If you don’t think about the team, the team doesn’t want the player, so always think about what the team needs.
