Pension System Update: In a significant move, the Central Government has directed all State Governments to give a one-time option to All India Service personnel who join the advertised vacancy before notification for implementation of the National Pension System. Were ! ie 22nd December 2003, and those who join government service on or after 1st January 2004 are covered under NPS! They will be covered under the provisions of the Old Pension System.

Apart from the National Pension System, it has been said! That willing employees can avail this one time option till 30th November. Orders will be issued to the eligible employees to take advantage of the old pension scheme by January 31, 2024! And after that their NPS accounts will be closed till 31 March 2024!

In a letter dated July 13 to the chief secretaries of all states and union territories, the Department of Personnel and Training said, “AIS officers, who are appointed against a post or vacancy ! National Pension System
Those who join the service on or after January 1, 2004, come under NPS (National Pension System). They will be governed by the provisions of the AIS (All India Services) (DCRB) Rules, 1958. One time option can be given to cover under OPS (Old Pension System)! It is also said in the letter. That the members of AIS selected through Civil Services Examination, 2003, Civil Services Examination, 2004 and Indian Forest Service Examination, 2003 are eligible to be covered under these provisions.
These members will also be eligible for lump sum option
It has also been said in the NPS (National Pension System) letter! Members of that service, who were elected to the service of the Central Government before joining the All India Service. Those who come under the CCS (Pension) Rules, 1972 (now 2021) or any other similar rule! Also D/o P&PW O.M. March 3, 2003 and are eligible to be given lump sum option to be covered under the provisions of Old Pension System under AIS (DCRB) Rules, 1958.
The option will be placed before the state government
NPS (National Pension System) letter states that it is clarified! That mobility from one service to another is subject to continuous service and technical resignation. It is also said in this! Consequently, the NPS (National Pension System) account of such member of service will be closed with effect from March 31, 2024. Members of Service who opt for Old Pension System under AIS (DCRB) Rules, 1958. They will need to subscribe to General Provident!

Congress governments of Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Himachal Pradesh have already announced to implement Old Pension System in the state. Congress has also made OPS an important issue for the Karnataka assembly elections. And on coming to power, it has been announced to implement it in Madhya Pradesh as well! But now the National Pension System is being given the most importance in the country.
