Mumbai: A major hit-and-run case has been reported in Mumbai’s Sewree area, where a pedestrian lost his life due to the reckless driving of a truck driver. The incident occurred when the truck’s rear wheel ran over the victim, leading to his death. Following the accident, the truck driver fled the scene. The Sewree police have registered a case against the unidentified driver and are investigating the matter.
According to the Sewree police, the accident took place around 6 PM on January 20. The deceased, identified as Trishal Tukaram Ghanekar, was walking towards Sewree Station. While crossing the road near the Panvel-bound signal under the Atal Setu bridge, a truck driver made a sudden U-turn without caution. Trishal, who was walking at the time, came under the truck’s rear wheel. He sustained severe injuries and later succumbed to his wounds during treatment at a hospital.
The driver fled the scene with the truck immediately after the incident. The Sewree police have launched a search for the absconding driver and are continuing their investigation.
