Ayodhya, the city of Lord Rama in Uttar Pradesh, was once again filled with faith and devotion. On the occasion of Ramnavami, lakhs of devotees reached the Ram temple to see Lord Rama. Ram Janmashtami was celebrated in the city at 12 noon. Ram Janmabhoomi was celebrated by lighting more than two lakh lamps on the banks of the Saryu River in the evening in Ayodhya. On the occasion of Ramnavami, crowds of devotees gathered in temples in various districts of Uttar Pradesh.
For the first time after a long time on the occasion of Ram Navami in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, people enthusiastically participated in the procession. During this time, extensive police security arrangements were made. PAC and Rapid Action Forces were also deployed at several places. Drone was used to monitor sensitive areas. The 51 -foot tall statue of Lord Rama built at the Rambagh Dham site of Chandausi became the center of people’s faith. On the other hand, some members of a Hindu organization in Prayagraj tried to spoil the atmosphere by waving saffron flags at the Dargah of Salar Masood Ghazi, but after immediate action of the police, they escaped. Thus, despite the overall stressful atmosphere in Uttar Pradesh, Ramnavami was celebrated peacefully.
There was also a possibility of a tense atmosphere in West Bengal, as the BJP had called for millions of Hindus to join the procession. More than 2,500 processions were taken out in the state. However, more than 6,000 police personnel were deployed to maintain law and order. In West Bengal, BJP and Trinamool Congress leaders attended Ramnavami ceremony. BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari laid the foundation stone of Lord Ram temple in Nandigram.
Last year, when riots broke out in Malda in West Bengal, there was a possibility of a tense atmosphere this year. However, this time not only Malda, but in many parts of the country, including Maharashtra, Muslims welcomed the procession by showering flowers. In some places, sorbet and sweets were distributed to the devotees. Thus, the celebration of Ram Navami concluded peacefully throughout the country without any incident.
