Gwalior Railway Station Renovation; Passengers Frustrated By Slow Pace Of Work | FP Image
Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): Passengers at Gwalior railway station are facing significant inconveniences due to the sluggish pace of ongoing reconstruction work.
Despite a budget of ₹500 crore allocated for the station’s redevelopment, only 50% of the project has been completed since its commencement in December 2022.
The original deadline for completion was set for December 2024, but this has since been extended to May 2025, with further delays anticipated.
MP Bharat Singh Kushwaha, along with district administration officials, have conducted periodic inspections of the site, but these visits have yielded little improvement in construction speed.
During a recent inspection, the area was cleaned for appearances, yet the underlying issues persist. The redevelopment project is being executed by Hyderabad-based KPC Infra, which has received several directives to accelerate the work.
Additionally, two multi-storey buildings intended to accommodate railway offices beside platform numbers one and four, are also under construction, with completion expected by May end.
Bhim Army urges supporters not to hire upper-caste lawyers
The ongoing dispute over the statue of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar at the Gwalior Bench of the High Court has escalated as the Bhim Army has taken a definitive stand.
In a recent demonstration, they administered an oath to their members, declaring that no general caste lawyer would represent them in any legal case. Instead, they pledged to appoint lawyers from the SC, ST, OBC, and Muslim communities.
A planned rally by the party to submit a memorandum to the collector was cancelled by authorities citing security concerns.
Bhim Army workers gathered at Phoolbagh crossing and later convened at Manas Bhawan, where State President Satendra Vidrohi promised to install Baba Saheb’s statue in every court across the nation.
Earlier, Bhim Army leader and his associates were attacked by a group of lawyers near the court premises. This happened despite heavy police presence.
The controversy began after a proposal was made to install Dr. Ambedkar’s statue in the High Court premises. The Bar Association strongly opposed the move.
