Former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) all-rounder Parvez Rasool has given a shocking statement while comparing the Indian Premier League (IPL) and Dhaka League. Parvez considered the Dhaka League to be more difficult than the IPL and cited ‘mountains of pressure’ as the reason. He says that after getting the contract in IPL, there is not that much stress on the players, whereas in Dhaka League, the story can end in just two matches.
Speaking to “Off Script By WJ”, Parvez said, “I have played Dhaka League for five years in Bangladesh. I think Dhaka league is tougher than IPL. I have played in both leagues. In IPL you get a contract, which means that even if you do not play after being selected, your contract remains intact. If you perform well, you remain in the team, but after one or two bad matches you are dropped. However, you remain associated with the team in IPL.”
The 35-year-old all-rounder further said, “But the pressure of playing in the Dhaka League is very high. There is a contract for only two matches, and then the team has to take a decision. If you do well in two matches, you are kept, but if not, you do not get a chance to play in the third match. Many big players have been out after playing two or three matches, but I will not take anyone’s name.”
Parvez Rasool, who was born in Jammu and Kashmir, has played a total of 11 IPL matches, in which he scored 17 runs and took four wickets. He has also played two matches for the Indian team. His international debut came in 2014 in Bangladesh, where he took two wickets in his only ODI match. After this, in 2017 he played a T20 International match against England, in which he took one wicket.
