Mumbai: In the spirit of Christmas, the parishioners and youth of Jogeshwari (E)-based Infant Jesus Church organised a charitable project to bring comfort to the poor and needy. The parishioners distributed bedsheets to government hospitals to reflect the true essence of the festivity by spreading love, warmth and generosity.
As part of the initiative, 3,500 handloom bedsheets were distributed across various government hospitals in Mumbai. The distribution commenced on Wednesday morning at Cooper Hospital, followed by J. J. Hospital, Nowrosjee Wadia Hospital, Jerbai Wadia Hospital, BYL Nair Hospital, KEM Hospital, Lokmanya Tilak Sion Hospital, KEM Hospital and Trauma Hospital, Jogeshwari (E).
This thoughtful gesture aimed to support patients and their families during challenging times. “The initiative reflected the true essence of Christmas that is spreading love, warmth, and generosity. The church community expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve and bring joy to those in need. This act of kindness is a testament to the enduring power of compassion and faith,” said Fr. Daniel Fernandes of the Infant Jesus Church.
The church is home to the Miraculous Statue of Infant Jesus of Prague. The Infant Jesus Church observed its golden jubilee celebrations in February. It is known for its efforts in curbing environmental degradation and also its higher education fund, which helps youth pursue higher education in foreign countries.
