France’s 2018 World Cup-winning football star Antoine Griezmann has retired from international football. Griezmann, 33, played for the France national team for 10 years. Atletico Madrid forward Griezmann made his debut for France in March 2014 and played 137 matches.

Hugo Lloris (145) and 1998 World Cup winner Lilian Thuram (142) are ahead of Griezmann in terms of playing the most international matches for France. He is fourth in the list of all-time highest goalscorers for France with 44 goals. Oliver Giroud, Thierry Henry and current captain Kylian Mbappe are ahead of them. Griezmann’s contribution was crucial in France’s 4–2 victory over Croatia at the 2018 FIFA World Cup Final in Moscow. He helped France reach the final of the 2016 Euro Cup.
