Navi Mumbai: Panvel municipal corporation has vigorously launched a property seizure campaign against defaulters. In the past three days since the beginning of March, action has been taken against 12 properties.

The Property Tax Collection and Assessment Department of the Panvel Municipal Corporation has been conducting swift action against property tax defaulters through various seizure and attachment teams.

“The stringent action has ensured that property tax worth crores of rupees is getting deposited into the municipal treasury daily,” said an official.

As per the commissioner’s orders, on March 3, recovery teams in each division took action against property tax defaulters. The Kharghar team carried out attachment action on three properties in Goodwill Infinity Society, including the society’s office. Similarly, action was taken against Jyotsna Prime Fitness.

The Kamothe team seized the property of S.M. Hade Patil, while the Kalamboli team took action against J.B. Marble (Plot No. 34, 35, 36) in the Marble Market and Narayan Rawaria (Plot No. 118). The Taloja MIDC team seized Bharat Coach Builders Pvt. Ltd. (Plot C-28).

In January, the corporation took action against 27 properties, while in February, 21 properties faced similar action. However, since most of these defaulters later cleared their outstanding dues, the actions against them were revoked.

Administration informed that manpower has been increased to expedite seizure and recovery operations. ” The recovery team has also been expanded to accelerate the collection process. Due to intensified seizure actions, property owners are increasingly paying their dues,” said the official.

To facilitate online property tax payments, the municipal corporation has developed the ‘PMC TAX APP.’ Citizens can also pay their property tax by visiting www.panvelmc.org. In case of any queries, property owners can contact the toll-free number 1800-5320-340.

Note: If property tax is not paid, a penalty of 2% per month is added. Citizens are urged to cooperate with the municipal corporation by paying their dues on time.
