Held at Vadale Lake during sunrise, the “Senior Citizen Interactive Meet,” along with a basic health check-up camp and a public awareness program on the Right to Public Services Act, witnessed enthusiastic participation.

The event, held between 6:00 AM and 8:30 AM, was inaugurated with a traditional Nataraj Poojan by Legislative Council Member Vikrant Patil.

Transport Manager Kailas Gawde, in his welcome address, emphasized that senior citizens are an integral part of PMC’s planning and development. “Through unique initiatives like this interactive meet, the Corporation aims to build goodwill and open communication with them,” he said.

While raising awareness about the Right to Public Services Act, he also announced PMC’s upcoming “Sevadut” scheme, which is being planned to ensure more efficient and accessible services for the citizens of Panvel.

A free health check-up camp was organized under the guidance of Chief Medical Officer Dr. Anand Gosavi. The camp offered a range of tests including blood sugar, hemoglobin, thyroid function, lipid profile, liver function, and kidney function.

Dr. Gosavi informed attendees that from 2 PM to 4 PM daily, all Primary Health Centers (PHCs) would have reserved time slots for senior citizens. He urged them to avail regular check-ups and health services at their nearest PHCs. Around 141 senior citizens benefitted from the camp.

The event turned festive as senior citizens enthusiastically took part in a vibrant cultural program. Throwing caution and age to the wind, they celebrated International Dance Day by dancing with their partners, friends, and companions to Marathi and Hindi songs. During the performance of the song Zindagi Kaisi Hai Paheli, colorful balloons were released into the sky as a symbol of joy and celebration.

All senior citizens present received thoughtful gift hampers from the Corporation. The event was anchored and concluded with a vote of thanks by Chief Public Relations Officer Dr. Raju Patodkar.

The cultural program was coordinated by Shubha Joshi and Ajitem Joshi. Singers Datta Mestri, Pournima Kakade, and Swati Harwande performed musical numbers, with music arranged by Kishore Nagare. The event narration was done by Mandar Kharade.
