Police investigate illegal horse cart race organized on Eastern Express Highway in Mumbai | X
Mumbai: The Pantnagar police have registered a case against unknown organizers, horse cart drivers, owners, and others involved in the illegal horse cart race organised on the Eastern Express Highway. The action was taken after videos of the race were uploaded on social media.
According to the complaint filed by the Pantnagar police, the race was organised early on Tuesday November 3 morning between 3:00 AM and 4:00 AM. The accused planned the illegal horse cart race at the Fatima Christian Community Hall in Ghatkopar West. Subsequently, the race commenced from the area near the police petrol pump in front of the Adani Building on the Eastern Express Highway in Ghatkopar East.
The race was conducted along the Eastern Express Highway towards Vikhroli. In addition to horse carts, several young participants joined the event on motorcycles and cars. Videos of the event were uploaded on social media, with one individual tagging Mumbai Police and commenting, “Mumbai Police slept while horse riding continued.”
Finally, the Pantnagar police lodged a complaint on behalf of the government against unknown organizers, horse cart drivers/owners, and others for illegally organizing a horse cart race on a public highway without permission, endangering lives, and acting negligently and cruelly towards mute animals. CCTV footage from the area has been seized, and further investigation into the case is underway.
