Walmart, a chain of hypermarkets in the US, ran into a controversy for selling slippers and panties with a Lord Ganesh design. Netizens were upset and angry with the brand for using the image of Hindu God inappropriately.
Panties & Slippers With Lord Ganesh Design At Walmart
Earlier this December, users spot slippers, boxer shorts, panties, pajama pants, lounge pants, and sleepwear carrying Lord Ganesha print listed on the official website of Walmart. Several people condemned the brand for using the Hindu God-based design on garments like underwear and slippers, which they pointed out to be offensive and disrespectful.
Outrage On Internet
Noting such use of Lord Ganesha’s image, social media users fumed over Walmart and sparked an outrage online. Slamming the hypermarket chain for their Lord Ganesha-printed undergarment and footwear, they wrote, “Deities are not fashion statements; they hold profound spiritual significance”.
